'It will haunt me forever' Chris Brown reveals

Meet young Jack Sparrow in new Pirates of the Caribbean 5 trailer

Up to this point in the marketing machine for Pirates of the Caribbean 5, we've been teased mere morsels of plot points swirling around the resurrection of dead pirates, skeletal galleons rising from the whirlpools of the Devil's Triangle and something to do with Javier Bardem's slavering Captain Salazar hunting down Johnny Depp's Jack Sparrow. All style and little substance.

Now Disney has released a new trailer concentrating more on the complete story arc and character motivations that provide a better understanding of the players involved. But beware: this action-packed preview does contain an unsettling de-aged Depp in a flashback to Little Jack Sparrow, dropping us into the uncanny valley and abruptly taking us out of the cinematic experience.

Have a peek at the search for The Pearl, a girl and a Sparrow and let's discuss!

Whoa! That's a lot of cannon smoke, anchor chains and ghost sharks.

This  trailer delivers what appears to be a balanced story with plenty of stunning set pieces and exotic locales. We're finally offered a motivation for Bardem's undead avengerand his desire to kill Captain Jack via a flashback featuring a cocky Jackie Sparrow leading a dashing Captain Salazar into a jagged cove and his watery death. Upon his resurrection in the Devil's Triangle with swarms of zombie pirate crews invading the Earth, Salazar enlists Geoffrey Rush's scheming Captain Barbossa on his quest for revenge.

It's also known that Orlando Bloom's Will Turner will play into the plot, though he's strangely absent from this trailer after being briefly seen in the Super Bowl extended spot. Last seen in the third Pirates flick, At World's End, Turner assumed the helm of the Flying Dutchman after dying and having his heart plopped into the Dead Man's Chest.

We also get lots more of Kaya Scodelario as Carina Smyth, a headstrong astronomer in possession of a secret diary that points to the location of the mystical Trident of Poseidon. Her quick disrobing scene at the end of this preview harkens back to the lusty humor we've all come to expect from a good voyage with Disney's "Wildest Crew That Ever Sacked the Spanish Main."
